This is 90 minutes of digital detox. AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT is an entertaining and sensuous film about the renaissance of analogue in our digital lives. We follow an eccentric scientist as he embarks on a feisty mission to save the world's last Polaroid factory. An inspiring underdog story of a 21st Century Don Quixote. And a sumptuous invitation to fall in love with real things again. Fully shot on 35mm.

Berlin-based producer and filmmaker Jens Meurer started as a local reporter and photographer at the Rand Daily Mail in South Africa. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford, Sciences-Po in Paris and Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. He has always worked internationally, at first directing documentaries in the Soviet Union, South Africa, Israel and the US, and then producing in almost every European territory, as well as the US, Africa and China.
His feature film productions include Oscar-nominated THE LAST STATION, Paul Verhoeven’s BLACK BOOK, and critically acclaimed CARLOS, for which he won a Golden Globe in 2011. Amongst others, he worked on Irvine Welsh's FILTH with James McAvoy, Ron Howard's glamorous racing drama RUSH, medieval thriller BLACK DEATH starring Sean Bean and Finnish action comedy BIG GAME starring Samuel L. Jackson. Alexander Sokurov's RUSSIAN ARK was a milestone, the first digital film in competition in Cannes.
Egoli Tossell Pictures is the feature film production company he shares with fellow producer Judy Tossell.
Meurer's first love, however is documentaries. 1995 he was awarded the European Academy Award for Documentaries. Black Panther history PUBLIC ENEMY (1999) premiered at the Venice Film festival. In 2015 he returned to documentaries with ZAUBERBERG, AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT, and the upcoming, yes, Brexit comedy SEASIDE SPECIAL.
Instant Film is the production vehicle for these personal projects.
